Byrd International was established in 1995. Our corporate office is located in beautiful Salisbury, Maryland on the lower Eastern Shore, surrounded by the waters of the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Maryland’s Eastern Shore has long been known for its rich history and deep traditions of the harvest and processing of blue crabs. This is where it all started, and the tradition of gathering with family and friends to cook and “pick” crabs continues to this very day.
Pasteurization of crab meat was developed here in the 1950s and is time-tested and proven to be the best process to maintain the crab meat’s color, flavor, texture, and quality. Done properly, you cannot tell the difference when compared to fresh crab meat.
